A few weeks ago I was visiting my friend and client, Laura, and her sweet new baby girl Clara. When Laura stepped into the other room for a feeding, I popped into the nursery to take a few pictures. I helped Laura and her husband with the design concept for the room, and some sourcing. They put all the pieces together and it was my first time seeing it all together (and in action with ...

The client project I’ve dubbed “The Great Room” has made a lot of progress since the last time I shared an update – and more changes are about to happen very quickly! Here’s the last update.
Two custom sectionals were delivered – we had them made at Couch here in Seattle. Both my client and I went to the store to select every detail – type of leg, back, arm, cushion, seat depth, piping (we opted ...

For the Bachelor Pad Project (see full reveal from last week here!), we needed a small nightstand with lots of storage – of course the Ikea Rast dresser came to mind immediately. I love how versatile this piece is, and always love finding new rast hacks on blogs! We toyed with lots of different options, including the classic brown stain/white paint combo we’ve all seen on Pinterest. I even considered hiring a graffiti artist to paint the ...

I’ve made you all wait for months and months for a (finally!) finished Bachelor Pad Project.
If you remember, I blogged along the way as Matt and I chipped away at this budget project (see link above for all posts!)
And at long last (and for my 1,000th post!) it’s time to show you what we did.
The pocket doors between the bedroom and living room can be closed for privacy, but when they’re open, they bring in ...

I’m good Skype/email/phone friends with Deanna over at Apples and Orange. In fact, she designed my logo and branding elements! We did a little trade so I could get a new paper business system (letterhead, etc) and she could get a plan for moving forward with her living room out in Arizona.
She and her husband already have an awesome mix of furniture – some vintage, some new – but they’ll looking to eventually buy a ...

I am very excited to finally share some professional pictures from my West Seattle condo project! This is a 2 bedroom beachfront condo that we furnished mostly from scratch. The second bedroom, not pictured, houses mostly stuff from this bachelor’s last place and serves as a media room and guest room.
My client was a man of simple tastes, but I managed to talk him into some throw pillows and awesome lighting. He sourced the artwork ...

A grand plan for a grand space. That’s how I’m approaching my client’s cathedral-high-ceiling great room. I shared a few snippets of this client’s home before, after seeing the results of our initial paint-color consult (which has turned into a whole room design).
Here’s a refresher (this is just with some random furniture so they can function until the real stuff comes).

The bookshelves are in the process of being painted (that’s the white they’ll be on ...

I’ve been working with some awesome clients this winter, among them are the kind and funny Judy and Benji from YouTube “It’s Judy Time” and “It’s Judy’s Life” (warning: videos will play immediately!). Did you know there is a growing community of YouTube bloggers and watchers? I didn’t until I met them!
We’re working on three rooms in their home: The main living space, Judy’s makeup studio (where she films her YouTube tutorials), and sweet 3 ...

Last summer I had a two hour paint consult that went very well. The client and I really clicked, and we had a lot of fun flipping through my big swatch books for four rooms in her new (to her) house. It was SO new, in fact, that she hadn’t even moved in when I was there!
I was back this week for a follow-up consult, and had to snap a few pictures of some of ...

Just before Thanksgiving, I wrapped up (mostly!) with a client over in West Seattle. This homeowner is a bachelor with simple and modern taste, who purchased a beachfront condo and had to furnish nearly from scratch. He snapped a few pictures a couple weeks ago, so I thought I’d share what I’ve been working on!
Since these photos we’ve also added some window treatments (light-filtering shades), and he’s waiting for a few items still to be ...
