For the Bachelor Pad Project (see full reveal from last week here!), we needed a small nightstand with lots of storage – of course the Ikea Rast dresser came to mind immediately. I love how versatile this piece is, and always love finding new rast hacks on blogs! We toyed with lots of different options, including the classic brown stain/white paint combo we’ve all seen on Pinterest. I even considered hiring a graffiti artist to paint the ...

I’ve made you all wait for months and months for a (finally!) finished Bachelor Pad Project.
If you remember, I blogged along the way as Matt and I chipped away at this budget project (see link above for all posts!)
And at long last (and for my 1,000th post!) it’s time to show you what we did.
The pocket doors between the bedroom and living room can be closed for privacy, but when they’re open, they bring in ...

It’s been almost a year since we started work on the Bachelor Pad project and there is finally light at the end of the tunnel! Just a reminder: this is a budget project, so we’ve been chipping away at it month by month as our Bachelor Matt has money to spend and time to spare for DIY.
I’m trying to find a good photographer to shoot it in September (if you know of someone who works ...

Last Thursday I spent part of the afternoon at The Bachelor Pad wrapping up a few projects and making our final list! We even managed to squeeze in a quick trip to West Elm while our spray paint was drying. And before I left I got a few shots of where things are now… which is NOT styled and not even where things will really live, just kinda plopped in post shopping.
New pillow from West ...

I’ve been woefully quiet about the Bachelor Pad project for some time, but it’s not because things haven’t been happening! We’ve been busy emailing and shopping and strategizing and restrategizing… (since the Bachelor is on a budget, some of my initial ideas get swapped around until we find something a little more affordable – or we end up working with what we can find on Craigslist, Overstock, or the thrift store.)
So while we’ve been very ...

I was cruising Z Gallerie the other day when I stumbled upon this great deal – the curtains above are just under $35 per panel. I’ve been having trouble finding a pattern that added some femininity to the massive brown sofa but didn’t turn “girly” and combined with the price, these seemed too good to be true! A few emails back and forth and our bachelor purchased a pair. I can’t wait to see them ...

It’s been a few weeks but I finally have an update for the bachelor pad project!
Matt and I (with some muscle from Ryan) moved around his existing furniture and I made a few vetoes. Matt still has a bit of decluttering to do, but we went ahead and started hanging art this weekend. Next up is Phase Two. We have a few furniture purchases to make (that coffee table’s days are numbered!) and a LOT ...

Still sourcing products for the bachelor pad project, and working on a color scheme (we’re thinking reds in the bedroom, but I’m not 100% on that yet). I should have more to share with you soon. While we were over fussing with furniture placement, Matt mentioned that he really wanted some plants. The lighting is different in each room, but I think we can find a good mix of houseplants to fill his apartment with.
And ...

This is the space we’re working with for Matt’s one-bedroom. Two open spaces pretty similarly sized, one with pocket doors and one with no door in the entrance to the room. Pocket doors connect the two spaces. Large closet (I’m jealous), small kitchen, small bathroom with a claw foot tub. Decently sized entry/hallway. New (looking) blond laminate wood floors. Lots of potential.
Matt had originally put the bed in the front room and the couch and ...

I hinted a while back (like WAY back) about a bachelor pad project that was in the works. Now that our buddy Matt (you saw him in our apartment tour video) is mostly settled in his new apartment, we’re finally starting to talk about real plans, layout, and purchases.
I have really loved getting to brainstorm for this project. Part of me really loves masculine design, leather seating, dark walls, and (of course!) a swanky bar. ...
