I’d heard rumblings and rumors, but I was still excited to hear that furniture retailer Room & Board will be setting up shop in University Village! This is one of my favorite places to source beautiful furniture for my clients, and the fact that many of them will now have the option of seeing the pieces in person before purchasing just makes it that much sweeter.
Here are just a few of the items I’m loving ...

I love living in Seattle! I can’t imagine Ryan and I living anywhere else right now. For us, it’s a really great combination of being “in the city” while being so close to nature and the beautiful Puget Sound. I love living near the water. A walk out overlooking the Sound or a ferry trip is a great way to calm my nerves.
This photo is a rarely-pictured vantage point of the city, as the Sound ...

Friends – if you’re in Seattle, I hope you’ll come by for our yard sale this Saturday! We’ll have lots to get rid of (I’m sitting next to the growing pile as I type!), including decorative items, lots of books ($2 each), and furniture. I’d also love it if you said hi when you’re here (I’ll be the short one with red hair who is running around frantically).
Also, we are able to take all major ...

This photo is about to be archived. Because….
We’re moving!
We just found out yesterday that we were accepted to our new apartment building, only about a mile from where our current place is (perhaps you saw my excited tweets?).
While we have loved living here the last two years, it’s the right time to find something new – our new apartment makes sense financially and also size-wise. We will be downsizing to a one-bedroom. I’ve felt for ...

I think I’ve alluded to the “orphan corner” in our living room before. You probably have one somewhere too – the awkward spot that seems to collect the random stuff that just doesn’t have a home. And even though you have stuff that could “live” in that spot, it’s almost always awkwardly shaped so that not much fits there.
I don’t have any “before” pictures of the orphan corner because I was too embarrassed to take ...

Attention locals: I’m now available for some in-person design work in the Seattle/Tacoma area! I know for some who are nearby, it seems silly to do everything over the internet when you might be just down the street.
So whether you want me to come by for an hour to give a few suggestions, or you want a full design experience that will take several weeks, let’s get together and talk design! It doesn’t have to ...

Perfect summer day - lounging in the park with some good books and a cute boy
I’ve been totally inspired by the summer lists that a lot of moms have been sharing on their blogs lately, so I thought I’d put together our own fun list, broken into house projects that just need to happen, and fun things that it’s finally nice enough to do in Seattle.
Free-or-almost-free-house-projects
1. Patch the floor paint under our desk chairs. Hello ...

In Seattle if you go antiquing, you’d be a fool to miss the gigantic Pacific Galleries Antique Mall. Think sometimes antique malls can be hokey? Not this one. Besides at least a hundred vendors with quality items, it has a giant warehouse with oversized furniture (think palace-sized china hutches and bedframes) and an auction house. It’s down in SODO next to the train tracks.
Local design mavens Kelley Moore and Cassandra LaValle have tooted the Pacific ...
