Even if you’ve never heard of photographer Michael Waring, you’ve most likely seen his work. I was poking around his website and was surprised that I recognized many of his photos, especially those from fashion magazines. In fact, the above photo and the next one have been in my inspiration binder for quite some time.
I love that he can capture the beauty of the clothes, whether the mood of the photo is moody, mysterious or ...

I’ve always been drawn to leopard prints, probably because of my glamourous aunt’s huge collection. Leopard is great because it works as a neutral. It goes with black, brown, white, purple, teal, coral, red… maybe not orange, but I’m sure someone has done it! It also adds a splash of fancy to any outfit. Evidence below.

Sarah Rutson, Fashion Director at Lane Crawford
What a gorgeous summer look from Sarah Rutson, the Fashion Director at uber-chic store Lane Crawford. Love the white dress, layered natural colors, the geometric necklace, and of course, the double wide belt that adds curves to her slender frame. Doesn’t she look comfortable and easy-going? But still appropriate and fashion forward.

It’s supposed to be getting hotter and hotter in Seattle now (boo! I like it to stay like 75 degrees). To stay cool, why not throw on a dress? Everything (except the shoes) in my inspiration board below is under $50. Seriously.
Forgot to shave? Add some leggings. Skipped your workout? Add some Spanx. Or just call it a day and let the lumps and hairs wave free. Have fun, ladies. It’s summer!

Unrelated, but one of my fave photos from our Hawaii trip in 2006.
Readers,
How’s your week going? I’m getting sick but I’ve also been reading a lot and getting my apartment in shape, so that’s good.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how I want my life to look when I am old and look back to reflect. And thinking about what in my life gives me joy currently. And it’s become abysmally clear that I ...

Shorts and a tee or tank with flip-flops is a traditional summer staple. But it can get boring, day after day. So I thought I’d see if I could jazz it up a bit.
*Note: Some of these items are pretty pricey for shorts or sandals. If you feel comfortable spending that much, more power to you! But these were the pictures I could find. Stores like The Limited, Ann Taylor Loft, Gap, any outlet store ...

I just got my July issue of Lucky magazine and it is fabulous. Every item in the issue is UNDER $100. Tops, bags, makeup, you name it. Many items are much cheaper, and there was a page of beauty items under $5.
My only complaint? I wish every issue was like this. It’s so frustrating to read an article about “frugal finds” or what have you, only to see a $500 dress mixed with plastic jewelry ...

So you guys know that I love to come up with inspiration outfits for events and occasions when you want to look “just-so”. Well one of my blog colleagues, Ms. Less is More, has gone a step further! She’s now offering a service called The Good Look For Less.
