Finally got a chance to flip through the latest Crate and Barrel catalog last night after I wrapped up some client work (my calendar is finally clearing up if you’ve been thinking about e-decorating!) and though most of it I’d already seen online, I loved the styling of these shots and was introduced to these new pieces (hint, the media console and armoire!):

I love that they played up the beachy texture with the slipcovered sofa ...

We’ve had a couple of fun weekends close to home lately but I’m still getting the travel itch (looking forward to our summer vacation isn’t helping!). I was poking around in The Girls With Glasses show archive and found this sweet little video of New York City. I think I’ve watched it four times – it just makes me smile!

There’s a whole lot of alliteration happening in that title! But I’m back for a Friday Five Faves where I share five of my favorite things in a given category. Today is foods!
As you can see, I cheated a little. But it’s my column so I guess I make the rules!
1. It all boils down to the fact that my ultimate favorite food EVER is homemade baked-in-the-oven mac and cheese (I’ll share my recipe sometime). ...

Last Thursday I spent part of the afternoon at The Bachelor Pad wrapping up a few projects and making our final list! We even managed to squeeze in a quick trip to West Elm while our spray paint was drying. And before I left I got a few shots of where things are now… which is NOT styled and not even where things will really live, just kinda plopped in post shopping.
New pillow from West ...

On Sunday, celebrate Earth Day by shopping at CB2 – they are planting trees for each purchase. And as a special incentive to Maggie Rose readers, if you enter the code TWOTREES when you purchase, CB2 will plant TWO trees… I can’t think of a simpler way to do something for the planet.
In fact, I own some CB2 stuff myself (my coffee table, which they still sell, is from there) and with their modern design ...

Don’t miss my TWO guest posts today!
The first is at VMac & Cheese with a “Behind the Scenes” interview (and you’ll read why the photo above is me in five years…).
The second is at Second Street East – I’m sharing the recipe for The Painkiller cocktail and a summery bar cart for her Hump Day Happy Hour!
See you back here tomorrow! xo

Well, I’ve been in an intense search for dining chairs since we moved nine months ago, but everything that I like is out of our budget (which is teensy tiny) and I haven’t had much luck looking for vintage chairs. We only need (and have room for) two, and I’d find sets that I liked of four, or I’d find one really cool chair. Looking at new (and even discount sites) was still over budget ...

Yesterday I had a coffee date with one of my favorite recently-relocated Seattle girls, Elizabeth of Shock the Bourgeois. She was sweet enough to bring me two porcelain jars that I’d spotted a month ago when we were antiquing in Edmonds. I begged her to swing by and pick them up for me (it was about $35 for the two!), during which trip she actually found the smaller one and snapped it up too. I ...

When your sofa is neutral, the easiest way to update your living room is by changing pillows – they can be a way to freshen up seasonally, or to bring in a trendy color or pattern without breaking the bank. Right now I’m pretty loving shades of blue and gray for a soothing and spa-like look. Bonus points for geometric details.
Here are some pillows that I’d love to see on your sofas!

I’ve been teasing about changes I’ve made to our bedroom for a few weeks but last Friday was finally sunny (and clean enough!) and I got a few pictures. You’ll see that this is definitely a work in progress. We dropped a chunk of change in upgrading to a queen bed from a full just after the holidays, so the next few purchases will be a little spread out so we can save up for ...
