Ryan’s nightstand. Because mine is always significantly more messy.

We got a new rug in the living room over the weekend so we spent several hours on Saturday cleaning all the floors, rearranging furniture, and positioning the new rug and the displaced jute rug. As you can see, the jute rug now lives in the bedroom. I think I speak for both of us when I say we like it in there a lot (though when you’re half asleep coming back to the bedroom with a fresh glass of water, it’s a bit surprising to find something new underfoot).

And at long last, our bedroom lamps are back on our nightstands.

Happy Monday! What did you do this weekend?

Do you have any tips for putting a rug under a bed? I want to do that my sister’s room, but am not sure if it should go all the way under the bed or if it should go slightly under and stick out of the end of the bed (I saw that on Downton Abbey :) . Also, I love your bedspread.

I like to make sure the rug is underfoot on all sides of bed – so for a queen bed you should be working with a minimum of an 8×10. I don’t usually push the rug all the way up so it’s also under the headboard however – in our bedroom, centering the rug in the room meant that the rug started about a foot from the wall where the head of our bed is. With smaller rugs, I’ll sometimes place one on each side of the bed (like a 3×5) to make a soft landing spot, but not actually run it UNDER the bed.
