Tomorrow marks four years that I’ve been writing this blog! Hard to believe.
My fourth year was a little different, and perhaps a little “backwards” from other blogger’s journeys. I started blogging LESS. I stopped taking on advertisers. I mostly stopped reading the the “guides” on how to grow my readership and monetize my blog. Because I’d figured something out – even though I quit my day job to be my own boss, I had little to no desire to be a professional blogger. Nope, my passion lies with design.
Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE blogging and I’m so thrilled that you come here to read what I have to say and want to know what’s going on in my life and career! But I didn’t love the idea of trying to be something that I’m not – a public persona, an “internet personality” and putting my content and time into the hands of advertisers and traffic statistics. I love that even with the business, I’ve been able to scale back the blog to be about projects I love, what I’m doing at home, the occasional client update, and lifestyle trends that have caught my eye. And I love that though I still consider working on the blog and site “working hours,” my REAL work is the design and style that I deliver to my clients.
So THANK YOU for letting me be true to myself and step back from the blog this year. I already have lots of things cooking for 2013, so I can’t wait to keep sharing with you.
Instead of a blog reader survey this year, I’d LOVE if you’d simply leave a comment and let me know who you are, if you also blog (leave a link!) and what keeps you coming back here to Maggie Rose.
