So waaaaay back I said that I’d been planning to re-do my gallery wall arrangement in the dining room. It was looking like this:

I didn’t like the weird variety of sizes, or how far apart everything was spaced.

So we recently ended up with this:

And yes, there is a little space by that horse that I meant to fill.

But friends, I just wasn’t feeling it. I liked the arrangement SO much more than the old, but I think that I’d outgrown this concept for the dining room wall. Most of the pieces I’ve been collecting since before we moved here, always with the intention that I would arrange them as a group. But I’m just kind of…. done with it.

So after all that (and this wasn’t the first time I’d made over the arrangment), we now have an empty wall and some nail holes that are waiting to be patched.

What will I hang there instead? I don’t have a clue. But I guess I’d better figure out at least a temporary solution before my photo shoot!

So funny, I just did the exact same thing recently http://www.designevolutionblog.com/2011/01/little-weekend-rearranging.html
Ended up searching for one large piece of art to fill the space instead.

Michelle, we’re like indecisive art twins! Love it.

You know, just the other day I was toying with the idea of a gallery wall as a headboard, and I sort of came to the same “I’m over it conclusion”. Instead, I’m going with a huge (36×42) graphic vintage poster in the room’s colors. Maybe some bold fabric stretched over a DIY frame?

Sounds cool, Brianne! Love alternative ideas for a “headboard”. I still love some gallery arrangements, but I’ve noticed the ones I like now have all bigger frames and often take up the whole wall. Not the plan for us right now!

We recently rearranged some furniture and freed up a wall. We are on the look-out for a big canvas or frame. The farmers market/flea market has lots of artists in the warmer months, so we are planning to look there. I’d love a huge decorative mirror, but they are so expensive!

Amber, one tip I’ve heard for giant mirrors is to look for a frame and have mirror cut to fit it. Can be a cheaper option cause a frame on it’s own can be a steal. xo Maggie

I can’t wait to see what you come up with since I really liked the second arrangement.

Too funny. I never end up feelin the gallery wall in my house either. I think it just feels too cluttered for me. I plan on taking down the one I have going in my office and doing something different.
