My love for built-in bookshelves is well documented (just try searching my archives for “built-in”). I love books in a home – a house without a few packed shelves feels odd to me. While renters or those on a budget can fake the look with Ikea or other basic shelving, there’s nothing like a wall full of built-ins – even better if there is a ladder required. I’ve been saving these ones up for a while – Enjoy!

I am a great lover of books and am thrilled to now have a built in book case of my own to put them in. The pictures in this post are like my version of heaven. Great post.
I like the floor to ceiling bookcase from Desire to Inspire. It’s like a wall of books dividing the living and dining areas.
Oh how I want a built in too! For some reason, my hubby just doesn’t get it AT ALL. My favorite is the first picture – so elegant, but then with the stacks of books! I notice that in the pics all the books are so artfully arranged. I think that makes a huge difference, but it’s hard to maintain if you use and read your books frequently!
As a fellow lover of books, bookcases, and especially ones with ladders, do you trace this love back to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast? I do!
I can’t pick a favorite because they are all unique and appealing. I love the one from desire to inspire. What a beautiful collection of book shelves.

Thanks for posting this. My husband and I are book fanatics and are constantly looking for ways to keep them neat and organized in our tiny Manhattan apartment. I’ll be trying the bookshelves around the door frame idea.
