Can you believe that it’s almost September? The fact that today is the last day of August blows my mind. Where does the time go?
For me, the back-to-school season has always been so refreshing. September is a great month for change and I’m predicting optimistically that September is going to be MY month. Things are going to happen this September.
But I’m also usually quick to wave off summer and it’s hot days and rushed vacations. Today I’m going to be mindful of the end of August, to appreciate these last moments of summer. After all, we have a lot of fall tasks coming up, like prepping the garden for winter, decorating for the new season, preparing for the holidays, getting the house ready for the change in temperatures.
How will you say goodbye to August? I think a proper summery tv marathon and s’mores. After all, it’s supposed to rain today here in Seattle. But maybe you’ll have popsicles and fly a kite! And what are you looking forward to this fall?
Photo: has nothing to do with this post, other than I felt like it could be someone wrapping up their plantings notes and saving seeds for next spring.

The other day I was thinking of all those “end of summer” songs that I used to hear in the juke box back in the late 60′s/early 70′s. There was always a sadness to the songs and what they represented. Now living in Florida, summer doesn’t end for another 3 months or so.
I do love those crisp, sunny fall days so here’s hoping for a little less rain. I’m looking forward to all of the wonderful concerts in Seattle this fall!
I am SO ready for fall… I need to clear out all my flower beds and maybe do smores once more with the kids!
